Hopeland Solar clinches connection progress milestone

Pacific Partnerships has reached a key connection milestone for the Hopeland 175MW/350MWh Battery Energy Storage System (BESS), co-located with the Hopeland 250MW Solar Farm, now in its late-stage of development in Queensland.

The Australian Energy Market Operator (AEMO) has issued Powerlink a 5.3.4A approval letter for the Hopeland BESS connection to the National Electricity Market (NEM).

This approval follows a rigorous assessment of the asset’s proposed generator performance standards, its network impact, and compliance with regulatory requirements.

This milestone paves the way for the next phase of development at Hopeland BESS, located approximately 290km west of Brisbane. In partnership with fellow @CIMIC Group company @UGL, we are moving forward to design, procure, construct, and operate the BESS, which will connect via Powerlink’s 275kV Western Downs substation.

Together, the Hopeland Solar Farm and BESS will generate enough clean energy to power approximately 150,000 Queensland homes, supporting the state’s energy transformation, reducing carbon emissions, and accelerating Australia’s transition to a sustainable future.

Hopeland BESS is Pacific Partnerships’ third large-scale renewable asset to reach this milestone, and one of seven assets either operating or in mid-to-late development stages across Australia. Achieving this milestone so rapidly underscores the strength, quality, and coordination of the entire project team.

Thank you to all stakeholders for your dedication and collaboration - your efforts have been instrumental in reaching this achievement.
